What is a "third country"?

Third countries are all countries of the world with the exception of the 27 European Union Member States, and the EEA-EFTA countries Iceland, Norway and Liechtenstein.

What is the difference between a student and a scholar?

A scholar is a person with a PhD and who has an academic position like researchers, professors, associate professors... or a post-doctoral position. A student is a person studying in a particular educational programme
